The Never Give Up Foundation was created by Orianne Collins after her own experience through traumatic spinal injury, paralysis and the long path to recovery. Orianne founded the charity so that others, less fortunate than her, might receive the help they need through their early days of life changing treatment and guide them and their families on their own journeys towards a better quality of life.
In 2008, Orianne took part in the ‘Festival D’Arts Martiaux’ in Paris where, due to an accidental blow to the head, Orianne was left with a minor injury in her shoulder. After weeks of pain she eventually went to see a doctor who advised that she should have a very straight forward operation, what she thought would be a fairy simple procedure. A few hours after the operation she would wake to discover that her world had changed forever. Due to a surgical error Orianne was left paralyzed from the neck down, unable to move a single part of her body.
Over the next five years Orianne determined that she would walk again every day telling herself ‘Never give up, Never give up’. Over that time she went from being completely paralyzed to learning not only to walk again, but to eat again, write again and communicate with her children again.
A very brave strong inspirational woman. Giving hope to so many people who have suffered terrible injuries she has incredible strength and a will to never give up.
